THE GIRLS IN ROYAL BLUE BOOK

The Girls in Royal Blue is the story of Birmingham City Ladies since they were formed by a group of girl Blues supporters in 1968 and is told by a former Blues player who has followed the team around the country since her return from Abu Dhabi in 2014. The book is part history and part supporters adventures as a group of passionate Bluenoses follow their team through thick and thin whilst enjoying some great times along the way. Birmingham City Ladies have always been a force in women’s football and like their male counterparts they have experienced many joys and sorrows along the way. From League Titles to Cup Finals Blues Ladies have experienced it all including Champions League adventures along the way. Since the formation of the FA Women’s Super League Women’s Football has reached new heights in popularity and attracts bigger crowds than ever before. Birmingham City Ladies were founder members of the FA WSL and have kept their place ever since and came close to winning the title in its first year and on occasions since. Recent times have seen many changes because of money and sponsorship coming into the game which is now creating a divide as is seen in the men’s game and this has seen Blues struggle in the last couple of seasons which have seen the club unable to field a team and suffer a points deduction but despite the disparity Blues continue to fight on. As the chant goes ‘we’re Birmingham City – we’ll fight to the end!’ Enjoy all the ups and downs of Birmingham City Ladies adventures alongside the passionate Blues mad group of supporters who sing and laugh their way around the country sharing banter with opposing supporters and getting behind the girls as they seek to regain their glory days and maintain their proud history.
